My third book is released! Learn what you'll need to know in order to become an embedded engineer. Check out my second book; learn practical stuff about building robots and control systems around Linux PCs and the Atmel AVR. My first book gives you all the intro you need on developing 32-bit embedded systems on a hobbyist budget. |
Welcome to zws.com, the online presence of Lewin A.R.W. Edwards. The most exciting news here right now is that my third book (see sidebar at left) is now orderable from amazon.com. Of course, this means I'm now starting on the next work... and yes, my fourth book is in the planning/approval stages. Tentatively entitled "The Xilinx Phoenix", this book's essential topic is implementing vintage audio, video and I/O controllers in a large Xilinx FPGA (a PowerPC-based EDK is used as the reference platform). However, the book is not specifically intended for retrogamers. If you are here looking for the companion web site for any of my released books, please visit the publications area. I have just released my free DOS-compatible filesystem for embedded projects; if you're looking for an easy-to-use FAT12/FAT16/FAT32 filesystem, then have a look at DOSFS. What else is happening? There are numerous other writing projects underway right now. The first is a series of articles on migrating embedded x86-based Linux applications to PowerPC micros. These articles are appearing regularly on the IBM developerWorks web site. Otherwise, please browse this site. If you think you can use my skills, please contact me via email or call (914) 645-9098.
Interested visitors may care to browse my personal site, www.larwe.com. Please note that all informal material has been permanently relocated to larwe.com, so if you followed a link or search engine to get here, and you don't find what you were expecting, it has probably been moved to larwe.com. However, I am still in the process of translating content from the old zws.com format to the new format, and as a result some content is temporarily offline. To find out more about what zws.com has to offer you, please visit the capabilities page. |
